About the artist
Jeffrey, or JR, has a 30+ year art career which includes graphic design, illustration, art direction, education, and fine art. He is also working on a children's book to add to this list of creative endeavors. He has been a member of the Portrait Society of America since 2018.
He works primarily in watercolor and drawing mediums.
His subject matter in watercolor includes the rural landscape where he currently resides. While the originals are painted small, they become far more abstract when enlarged as prints.
For drawing, his subject matter is predominantly (but not exclusively) the female human form. These pieces are portraits and figurative, with the Sorceress collection (still being fully realized) having a distinct narrative behind the imagery.
"As with any artist, I am influenced by the masters of art history, and by contemporary figures. Regardless, I paint and I draw like I want. My "style" is my own, it doesn't look like I spent my entire education learning how to draw from one person, which I find all too common on the internet. An artist should always be learning, always evolving."
Jeffrey's work is always available for those interested in an owning original. He is currently accepting commissions for portraiture, as a drawing or in watercolor. Contact him at artist@jrnihiser.com for further details and questions.
